Basketball Recap: Morghan Slater's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Woodstock over Pope

Woodstock was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 64-55 to the Pope Greyhounds. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while the Greyhounds are ranked 24th).

Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Morghan Slater, who posted 16 points and three steals. Slater has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bree Rogers, who scored ten points.

Woodstock's loss dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Pope, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-4.

Woodstock will venture away from home to take on Sequoyah at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Woodstock is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season. As for Pope, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against River Ridge at 6:00 p.m. River Ridge knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 19 matchups -- so hopefully Pope likes a good challenge.
