Basketball Recap: Lakeland Christian Academy Falls to Caston in First Game of Season

Lakeland Christian Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by the Caston Comets and fell 74-36. The Cougars have struggled against the Comets recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Caston was led to victory by Lane Hook and Logan Mollenkopf. Hook went 11-for-15 to rack up 27 points in addition to six boards and four steals, while Mollenkopf shot 53% from the field on his way to 20 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Mollenkopf's big performance that evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Drew McGrew, who posted five points and three steals.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeland Christian Academy will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Culver Community at 8:00 p.m. on December 5. As for Caston, they will venture away from home to challenge Argos at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
