Preview: Cumberland Pirates vs. Cerro Gordo/Bement Broncos
The Cumberland Pirates will head out on the road to challenge the Cerro Gordo/Bement Broncos at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cumberland will be strutting in after a victory while Cerro Gordo/Bement will be coming in after a loss.
Cumberland scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They really took it to Heritage for the full four quarters, racking up a 62-32 win on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Cumberland has posted yet this season.
Cumberland got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cameron Roedl out in front who scored 12 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Blake Mcmechan, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Cerro Gordo/Bement pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 74-55 bruising from Okaw Valley.
Cumberland's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-14. As for Cerro Gordo/Bement, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.
Cumberland came up short against Cerro Gordo/Bement in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 51-41. Can Cumberland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
