Baseball Recap: Montclair Gets the Win

Montclair came out on top against St. Benedict's Prep on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Mounties walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Gray Bees. That's more bragging rights for the Mounties, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Montclair saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Casey Blau, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Those two hits gave Blau a new career-high. Jayden Williams also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Montclair and bumps their season record up to 5-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for St. Benedict's Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9-1.

Coming up, Montclair will challenge Garfield at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mounties are facing the Boilermakers at the right time seeing as the Boilermakers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for St. Benedict's Prep, they will face off against St. Mary at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
