Basketball Game Preview: Meigs Marauders vs. Alexander Spartans

Meigs and Alexander are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Meigs Marauders will welcome the Alexander Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Alexander will be up against a hot Meigs squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Meigs breezed by Vinton County to the tune of 78-41 on Friday. Given the Marauders' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Vikings are ranked 520th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Alexander). They took down Federal Hocking 67-51 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

Meigs pushed their record up to 16-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.3 points per game. As for Alexander, their win bumped their record up to 6-12.

Meigs strolled past Alexander in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 72-53. Will Meigs repeat their success, or does Alexander have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
