Baseball Game Preview: Ashley Screaming Eagle vs. West Brunswick Trojans

The Ashley Screaming Eagle are taking a road trip to square off against the West Brunswick Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Ashley 2.5, West Brunswick 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Ashley's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over Topsail. The victory continues a trend for the Screaming Eagle in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won four in a row.

Jackson Lee tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Tanner Berry was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.

Meanwhile, West Brunswick was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Laney.

Ashley pushed their record up to 14-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for West Brunswick, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.

Ashley came out on top in a nail-biter against West Brunswick in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Screaming Eagle since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
