Baseball Recap: Raymond/South Bend Wins Going Away Against Chief Leschi

Raymond/South Bend got themselves on the board against Chief Leschi on Tuesday, but Chief Leschi never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 16-0 victory. The Ravens haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Keeton Nichols made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Raymond/South Bend is undefeated when Nichols posts two or more runs, but 1-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, Nolen Miller and Jonah Rumbles did most of the damage at the plate: Miller went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Rumbles went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Rumbles a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Preston Toepelt, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-9. As for Chief Leschi, they dropped their record down to 0-12 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight at home.

Raymond/South Bend will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Warriors: the pair will be back at it again later today.
