Basketball Recap: Parris Prep Academy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Grace Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Parris Prep Academy). They blew past the Grace Academy Lions 100-69 on Saturday. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Lions are ranked 283rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Parris Prep Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Garrett Morgan, who posted 32 points. Morgan's afternoon made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Pack, who had 27 points.

Grace Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Tim Burris, who earned 22 points along with eight rebounds and five assists, and Carson Payne, who put up 19 points. Those eight boards gave Burris a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyrez Neal, who posted five points.

Parris Prep Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Grace Academy, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-3.

Parris Prep Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 70-63 loss against New Faith Christian Academy on the 11th. As for Grace Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-45 victory against NC GBB Academy on the 12th.
