It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Ironwood Ridge can now relate to. They fell just short of the Mesquite Wildcats by a score of 8-7 on Monday. The Nighthawks' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Angel Figueroa was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Keanu Bracamonte, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Ironwood Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 22-8. As for Mesquite, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season.

Ironwood Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mesquite, they will take on Salpointe Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lancers have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season.
