Softball Game Preview: Pensacola Tigers vs. Central Jaguars

Pensacola hasn't had much luck against Central recently, but that could start to change on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Pensacola Tigers challenge Central Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. Pensacola has given up an average of 16.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Pensacola is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They lost 16-4 to Pine Forest.

Pensacola saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Jauncey, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Central suffered their closest loss since April 15, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Freeport by a score of 10-8. The defeat continues a trend for the Jaguars in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost three in a row.

Addie Holland was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Even though they lost, Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. This was only their first loss (out of five games) when they post 11 or more hits.

Central's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Pensacola, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pensacola has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Pensacola might still be hurting after the 29-1 loss they got from Central when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Pensacola avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
