Baseball Recap: Waterbury Career Academy Drops Season-High Score on Naugatuck

Waterbury Career Academy had lost 15 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 0-10 to make it 16. They came up short against the Naugatuck Greyhounds, falling 19-2. On the bright side, the two- run effort marked the Spartans' highest-scoring match to date.

Waterbury Career Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dennys Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with one run. That run marked the first that Rodriguez has scored this season.

As for Naugatuck, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-3. The contest marked their most dominant victory of the season.

On Naugatuck's side, Colton Hofmann was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Hofmann a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyler Accentura, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and three runs.

Coming up, Waterbury Career Academy will square off against Derby at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Naugatuck, they will face off against Pomperaug at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
