Basketball Game Preview: Sacred Heart Gremlins vs. Clinton Cardinals

The Sacred Heart Gremlins are taking a road trip to square off against the Clinton Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Sacred Heart was able to grind out a solid win over Stover, taking the game 50-40. Given the Gremlins' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 437th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

While Clinton didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They took their game on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 67-39 victory over Pleasant Hill. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 21 points or more this season.

Sacred Heart has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Clinton, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.

Sacred Heart took their victory against Clinton when the teams last played back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 67-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sacred Heart since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
