Basketball Recap: Andrew Poss' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rose Hill over Wellington

Rose Hill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 64-59 heartbreaker at the hands of the Wellington Crusaders. While losing is never fun, the Rockets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while the Crusaders are ranked 90th).

Rose Hill's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Poss, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 boards. Poss continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ethan Helget, who posted 11 points and five steals.

Even though they lost, Rose Hill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Rose Hill's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Wellington, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Mulvane the next time they take the court. Rose Hill will host Mulvane at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Wellington will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on February 4th.
