Basketball Game Preview: Orr Spartans vs. Comer Catamounts

The Orr Spartans will take on the Comer Catamounts at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Orr gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They really took it to Walther Christian Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-10 win. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-4.

Orr had a senior duo take command as Ja'Una Williams dropped a double-double with 29 points and 15 steals and Carmani Sharkey dropped a double-double with 24 points and ten steals. Sharkey has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of LaySha Walls, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 11 boards.

Orr smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, in a tight game that could have gone either way, Comer made off with a 38-37 victory over South Shore International. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Catamounts.

Everything came up roses for Orr against Comer when the teams last played back in December of 2021, as the team secured a 45-11 win. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Catamounts have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
