Softball Recap: El Diamante Comes Up Short

After flying high against McLane on Saturday, El Diamante came back down to earth. The Miners fell just short of the Westminster Lions by a score of 8-7 on Saturday. The Miners' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Jadelynn Quinday spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Taelyn Ochoa was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Nathalia Valenzuela also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

El Diamante's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8-1. As for Westminster, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-8.

Coincidentally, El Diamante and Westminster will both be playing Dinuba the next time they take the field. The Lions will head out to face the Emperors at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, while the Miners will play them later in the day, at 4:30 p.m.
