Basketball Recap: Cactus Comes Up Short

Cactus was the 60-56 winner over Westview when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. The Cactus Cobras fell 70-62 to the Westview Knights on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Cobras can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 219th, while the Knights are ranked 102nd).

Despite the loss, Cactus still got an impressive performance from Xavier Ledet, who went 6 for 14 en route to 21 points along with seven boards and three steals. Ledet is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Ayden Lynn was another key player, putting up 12 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Cactus and nudges their season record down to 5-14. As for Westview, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-7.

Cactus has already played their next contest (against Estrella Foothills), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Westview will head out to face off against Peoria at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westview knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Peoria likes a good challenge.
