Basketball Recap: Midlothian Takes a Loss

Midlothian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by the Monacan Chiefs 50-18. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 289th, while the Chiefs are ranked 62nd).

It was another big night for Trinity Jones, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds for Monacan. Jones is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lila Donnelly, who posted 14 points.

Midlothian's record is now 2-12. As for Monacan, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

While Midlothian had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
