Baseball Recap: Buena Park Comes Up Short

Buena Park extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping their season record down to 8-16 in the process. They lost 13-5 to the Costa Mesa Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, with their most recent defeat being a 8-3 loss on Tuesday.

Buena Park saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joshua Santillian, who went 1-for-3 with two runs. The Coyotes are 2-1 when Santillian posts two or more runs, but 6-15 otherwise. Alex Blancas was another, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

As for Costa Mesa, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.

On Costa Mesa's side, the team relied heavily on Wylan Rottschafer, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Aiden Comte, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Buena Park will welcome Segerstrom at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Costa Mesa, they will head out to take on Katella at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight.
