Baseball Game Preview: Cornerstone Christian Crusaders vs. Elsinore Tigers

The Cornerstone Christian Crusaders will head out to take on the Elsinore Tigers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Cornerstone Christian sitting on seven straight wins and Elsinore on nine.

On Friday, Cornerstone Christian got the win against Crossroads Christian by a conclusive 17-1. The Crusaders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 matches by six runs or more this season.

Steel Hoham was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to triples, as he's now hit at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Lucas Gomez-Creguer was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

Elsinore came out on top against Tahquitz on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Tigers took their contest against the Titans 6-2.

Brayden Stankus spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, Ivan Huerta was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jacob Farias, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Cornerstone Christian pushed their record up to 19-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.5 runs over those games. As for Elsinore, their victory bumped their record up to 15-6.
