Softball Recap: Carlmont Takes a Loss

Carlmont had lost seven straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 5-14 to make it eight. They fell just short of the Notre Dame Tigers by a score of 3-2. If the Scots were looking for revenge after losing 11-10 to the Tigers when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Kathrine Fung spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, Carlmont saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Molly Brand, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

As for Notre Dame, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games.

On Notre Dame's side, the team relied heavily on Skylar Loo, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Carlmont has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against King's Academy on the 29th. As for Notre Dame, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-0 victory against Mercy on the 30th.
