Basketball Recap: Colten Musil and Cristian Botello Secure Win for Deerfield

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Deerfield). They came out on top against the Satanta Indians by a score of 64-56 on Friday. For the Spartans, this counts as revenge for the 52-33 win the Indians walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.

Leading Deerfield to victory were Cristian Botello and Colten Musil. Botello went 6 of 10 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds, while Musil posted 18 points along with eight boards and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Maverick Najera, who put up eight points.

Deerfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

The victory got Deerfield back to even at 2-2. As for Satanta, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Deerfield will host Moscow on Thursday. Deerfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season. As for Satanta, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Minneola at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
