Soccer Game Preview: Peninsula vs. Wiseburn- Da Vinci

The Peninsula Panthers will take on the Wiseburn- Da Vinci Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Peninsula fought the good fight in their overtime contest against North last Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Saxons by a score of 3-2. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while the Saxons are ranked 34th).

Meanwhile, Wiseburn- Da Vinci was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against North, falling 5-0.

Wiseburn- Da Vinci's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Peninsula, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-9-2.

Everything went Peninsula's way against Wiseburn- Da Vinci when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Peninsula made off with a 4-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Peninsula since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
