Baseball Recap: Bishop O'dowd Has No Trouble Against Encinal

There's no place like home for Bishop O'Dowd, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They never let the Encinal Jets get on the board and left with an 8-0 win on Thursday. That looming 8-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Dragons yet this season.

Bishop O'Dowd got a massive performance out of Sebastian Ultreras, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The Dragons are undefeated when Ultreras posts one or more home runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Rashad Hayes, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.

The victory snapped Bishop O'Dowd's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-6 record. As for Encinal, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.

Bishop O'Dowd and Encinal should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Dragons (ranked 325th) will meet Saint Mary's (ranked 875th) at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Encinal will face off against Monte Vista at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (300 vs. 648).
