Baseball Recap: Suffield Academy Comes Up Short

Suffield Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 9-4 to the Pomfret School Griffins. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 10-5 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Suffield Academy got a good showing from Ryan Modistino, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Modistino has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Joe Banks was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caiden Pena, who earned one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.

Suffield Academy's record now sits at 0-5. As for Pomfret School, their record is now 2-4.

While Suffield Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
