Basketball Game Preview: Centennial Eagles vs. Port St. Lucie Jaguars

Having just played yesterday, the Centennial Eagles will get right back to it and host the Port St. Lucie Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Centennial's favor as the team sits on seven straight wins at home while Port St. Lucie has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

On Wednesday, Centennial lost to Central on the road by a 86-69 margin.

Meanwhile, Port St. Lucie posted their biggest win since December 12, 2024 on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Lincoln Park Academy with a sharp 57-31 victory. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-9.

Port St. Lucie's win came from a few key players Centennial will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Cooper Graham, who posted eight points and six steals. Those six steals gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryan Veach, who scored 11 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Port St. Lucie's win bumped their record up to 7-14. As for Centennial, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 14-7.

Everything went Centennial's way against Port St. Lucie when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as Centennial made off with an 84-58 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Port St. Lucie's Ryan Rodriguez, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 15 rebounds.
