Basketball Game Preview: Cumberland Dukes vs. Amelia County Raiders

The Cumberland Dukes just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Amelia County Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cumberland has six straight victories, Amelia County has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

While Cumberland didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victor by a 50-30 margin over Franklin on Monday. The Dukes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Amelia County had to suffer through a 67-25 loss at the hands of Prince Edward County. The game marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Cumberland pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30 points. As for Amelia County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Cumberland came up short against Amelia County when the teams last played back in January, falling 37-26. Can Cumberland avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
