Baseball Recap: Hoover Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

Hoover won the last time they faced Washington and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Vikings walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Tigers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Gavin McCune made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Hoover let Jack Andes and Jack Ziarko run wild. Andes went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one triple, and one run, while Ziarko went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Andes has become a key player for Hoover: the team is 10-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-6 otherwise.

Hoover's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Washington, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hoover will challenge Perry at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Washington, they will square off against GlenOak at 5:00 p.m. on the 21st.
