Soccer Game Preview: Chavez vs. King/Drew

The Chavez Eagles will take on the King/Drew Golden Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Chavez is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.7 goals per game this season.

Chavez is headed into the match having not lost since November 20 and will look to keep things rolling. They were the clear victors by a 4-0 margin over Verdugo Hills last Friday. The win continues a trend for Chavez in their matchups with Verdugo Hills: they've now won four in a row.

Chavez hit Verdugo Hills with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jesus Palafox (2), Kenneth Barreras, and Jose Aviles.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only King/Drew walked away with it. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Spartans 2-1. The final result isn't all that surprising considering King/Drew's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 166th, while Sylmar are ranked 393rd).

Chavez's win bumped their record up to 17-2-2. As for King/Drew, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3-3.
