It was a good run, but Mechanicsburg unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell to the West Liberty-Salem Tigers 39-35. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Indians of the 39-36 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

West Liberty-Salem got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ava Poppe out in front who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 boards. The dominant performance gave Poppe a new career-high in points. Ava Astorino was another key player, putting up 12 points and five rebounds.

Mechanicsburg's loss dropped their record down to 12-4. As for West Liberty-Salem, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-4.

Mechanicsburg has already played their next matchup, a 48-7 victory against Northeastern on the 25th. As for West Liberty-Salem, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 48-45 win against Fairbanks on the 25th.
