Basketball Recap: Joseph Gilmor Key Part of a Team Effort in Angels Win

Our Lady of the Sun Academy picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Roosevelt Preparatory Academy Aces 56-54. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Angels.

Our Lady of the Sun Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joseph Gilmor led the charge by going 6 of 13 on his way to 15 points along with six boards and four steals. Gilmor is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least four every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Webster, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 15 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Our Lady of the Sun Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Roosevelt Preparatory Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Our Lady of the Sun Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 79-72 loss against American Leadership Academy on the 16th. As for Roosevelt Preparatory Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wickenburg Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
