Baseball Game Preview: Riverview Sarasota Rams vs. Lakewood Ranch Mustangs

The Riverview Sarasota Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Lakewood Ranch Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Riverview Sarasota has given up an average of 6.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Riverview Sarasota came up short against Palmetto on Tuesday, falling 12-2. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Riverview Sarasota saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Rhymestine, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Rhymestine has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Lakewood Ranch was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They fell just short of Naples by a score of 3-2.

Lakewood Ranch also got a good showing from Mason Maquarrie, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Maquarrie has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Carter Sprague made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Sprague is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Luis Flores also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Lakewood Ranch dropped their record down to 2-8 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Riverview Sarasota, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.

Riverview Sarasota might still be hurting after the 15-7 loss they got from Lakewood Ranch in their previous meeting on Friday. Can Riverview Sarasota avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
