Windham RVT is 0-5 against Bolton since April of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Mighty Tigers will challenge the Bulldogs at 3:45 p.m. Windham RVT is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Windham RVT came up short against Norwich RVT and fell 10-7.
Lily Howlett-Reynolds was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Bolton hadn't done well against Rockville recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by a 17-5 margin over the Rams. The game was the first time the Bulldogs have beaten the Rams on their field since May 7, 2018.
Abbie Gravel made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in six of her five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Sarah Mattei was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Connelly, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
The victory made it two in a row for Bolton and bumps their season record up to 2-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Windham RVT, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Windham RVT has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bolton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 11 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Windham RVT suffered a grim 11-3 defeat to Bolton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Mighty Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
