Basketball Recap: Valley Union Takes a Loss

Valley Union lost against Tombstone back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Valley Union Blue Devils took a blow against the Tombstone Yellow Jackets, falling 58-20. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 53rd).

Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kylee Gilbreth, who posted six points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lexi Boss, who earned six points.

Valley Union's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Tombstone, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

Valley Union will head out to face off against Patagonia at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Valley Union is facing Patagonia at the right time seeing as Patagonia is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Tombstone, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Desert Christian at 5:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
