Recap: Fort Calhoun Pioneers vs. Conestoga Cougars
The Fort Calhoun Pioneers pushed their score all the way to 58 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Conestoga by a score of 61-58. Fort Calhoun lost against Conestoga in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 36-34 score last time.
Despite the loss, Fort Calhoun still got an impressive performance from Grayson Bouwman, who scored 28 points along with seven rebounds. Bouwman scored a full 48.3% of Fort Calhoun's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Colby Bentley, who scored 14 points.
Fort Calhoun's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Conestoga, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Fort Calhoun will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Howells-Dodge at 6:00 p.m. on December 29th. Howells-Dodge has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Conestoga will be home for the holidays to greet Plattsmouth at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Plattsmouth focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Saturday.
