Baseball Recap: Vallivue Triumphs

While Vallivue's win against Columbia wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Falcons had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Falcons have posted since March 26th.

Isaac Farrel was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Vallivue's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 8-9 when he doesn't).

Farrel wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Cagel, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

The win got Vallivue back to even at 10-10. As for Columbia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Vallivue will host Homedale at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed two runs per game this season, so the Falcons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Columbia, they will head out on the road to challenge Nampa at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season.
