Softball Recap: Pensacola Tigers vs. Destin Sharks
Pensacola had lost five straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 3-17 to make it six. They came up short against the Destin Sharks, falling 21-1. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Tigers couldn't push the score so high this time.
As for Destin, their record now sits at 14-10. Considering they have won 12 matches by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
For Destin's part, Aspen Benscoter made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Benscoter has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Anita Palmer was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Keelie Ellis was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
As of now, neither Pensacola nor Destin have any future games scheduled.
