Softball Recap: Harpeth Hall Comes Up Short

Harpeth Hall had lost ten straight at home dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 0-10 to make it 11. They came up short against the Christ Presbyterian Academy Lions, falling 19-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Honeybears were not able to get on the board.

As for Christ Presbyterian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.

For Christ Presbyterian Academy's part, Anna Groenewoud made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Groenewoud was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Nealy McCluskey was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Rebecca Hughes was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI.

Harpeth Hall didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-0 defeat against Brentwood Academy on the 29th. As for Christ Presbyterian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 7-0 loss against Summertown on the 26th.
