Baseball Recap: Pine Crest Snags Third Win in Last Four Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Pine Crest had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes by a score of 4-1. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 10-7 victory the Golden Tornadoes walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2021.

Brady Bushnell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cooper Obst, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Paul Baker, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Pine Crest hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive contests.

Pine Crest has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Pompano Beach, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Pine Crest will challenge Calvary Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. Pompano Beach does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
