Recap: Macksville Mustangs vs. Bucklin Red Aces
After a string of three wins, the Macksville Mustangs's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They suffered a tough 51-27 defeat at the hands of Bucklin. Macksville has struggled against Bucklin recently, as their game on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Macksville's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kambry Adams, who scored six points along with three steals, and Laney Butler who scored six points along with two steals.
Macksville struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Bucklin got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Karlee Evans out in front who scored 16 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Evans has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Sydnie Jones, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Macksville's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Bucklin, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.
Macksville will head out on the road to square off against Otis-Bison at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Otis-Bison will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 285th, while Macksville is ranked 113th). As for Bucklin, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ashland at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Bucklin is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Kansas (they are ranked 28th, while Ashland is ranked 183rd).
