Basketball Recap: Boca Ciega Pirates vs. Largo Packers
Even though the Largo Packers scored an imposing 75 points on Thursday, the Boca Ciega Pirates still came out on top. Boca Ciega skirted past the Packers 77-75. This was payback for Boca Ciega, who suffered a 74-52 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Boca Ciega's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jelani Nix, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 17 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Oriol, who scored 22 points along with two steals.
Boca Ciega's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-11. As for Largo, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season.
Boca Ciega will take on the Bulls at TBD on Tuesday. Parrish Community is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Largo, they will square off against the Cowboys at TBD on Tuesday. Gaither will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
