The Vasquez Mustangs will take on the West Ranch Wildcats at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Back in April, Vasquez needed a bit of extra time to put away Faith Baptist. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Contenders. The victory was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Mariah Pulido made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over eight innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. Pulido was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kriztina Finley was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Faith Nasrallah was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
Meanwhile, West Ranch hadn't done well against Hart recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Wildcats came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hawks, sneaking past 6-4. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won three in a row.
The team relied heavily on TORREY PRICE, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
West Ranch's victory bumped their record up to 10-14. As for Vasquez, their win bumped their record up to 13-11.
West Ranch's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Vasquez has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .461. It's a different story for West Ranch, though, as they've only averaged .348. Will they be able to contain Vasquez's hitters?
