Basketball Recap: West Jordan Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when West Jordan challenged Kearns on Friday. The West Jordan Jaguars fell 72-63 to the Kearns Cougars. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Wednesday (60), the Jaguars still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why West Jordan lost, don't look at Ian Mcintyre. Despite the final result, he went 10 for 18 en route to 25 points. Mcintyre's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jaidon Colbert, who posted nine points and eight boards.

Isaiah Cruz was nothing short of spectacular for Kearns: he went 9 of 12 to rack up 25 points and six rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Cruz now owns an excellent 45.8% field goal percentage. Kayden Stark was another key player, going 5 for 11 on his way to 13 points and seven boards.

West Jordan's loss dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Kearns, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-9.

Looking ahead, West Jordan will square off against Taylorsville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Jordan is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season. As for Kearns, they will face off against Juan Diego Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Kearns has won six straight at home, while Juan Diego Catholic won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
