Volleyball Recap: Rachel Nemee Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Tracy + How To Watch

While St. Mary's victory against Tracy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rams sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Bulldogs on Thursday. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

St. Mary's wouldn't go down easily and took Tracy into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-12, 25-10, 22-25, 15-9.

St. Mary's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rachel Nemee, who had 28 digs and two aces. The dominant performance also gave Nemee a new career-high in assists (six). Another player making a difference was Genevieve Rishwain, who had 22 digs and four aces.

They weren't the only good servers: St. Mary's was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their ace total in three consecutive contests.

Tracy's loss came despite strong showings from Gurnaaz Joura and Zoe Miles. Joura had 22 digs and three assists, while Miles had 11 digs and one assist. Joura has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last nine times she's played.

St. Mary's record now sits at 19-11. As for Tracy, their loss ended a four-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-11.

St. Mary's and Tracy should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Rams (ranked 156th) will meet Lincoln (ranked 615th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Tracy will challenge Kimball at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (334 vs. 862).
