Basketball Recap: Wilmington Takes a Loss

Wilmington managed to keep up with Hillsboro until halftime on Monday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Wilmington Hurricane came up short against the Hillsboro Indians, falling 63-37. While losing is never fun, the Hurricane can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 497th, while the Indians are ranked 156th).

Hillsboro can attribute much of their success to Kyra Boyd, who posted 14 points and eight rebounds. Ella Jordan was another key player, putting up seven points and five boards.

Wilmington dropped their record down to 5-13 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Hillsboro, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.

Wilmington has already played their next game (against New Richmond), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Hillsboro, they have already played their next contest, a 45-38 win against Whiteoak on the 6th.
