Volleyball Recap: South Takes a Loss + How To Watch

If South was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Legacy Christian Academy on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Spartans came up short against the Golden Valley Bulldogs on Wednesday, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, with their most recent loss being a 2-1 defeat last Saturday.

South was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-23, 25-18.

Golden Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sofia Amaya led the charge by getting nine digs and four aces. Another player making a difference was Aliyah Velazquez, who had six aces.

South's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13-2. As for Golden Valley, they now have a winning record of 11-10-1.

When South and Golden Valley next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Spartans will try to stop West's three-game winning streak when they meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Golden Valley will square off against Independence and their three-game winning streak at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
