Basketball Game Preview: Henderson Lions vs. Pine Tree Pirates

The Henderson Lions are taking a road trip to face off against the Pine Tree Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Henderson took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Carthage out 65-63. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted since February 2nd.

While Pine Tree didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They strolled past Cumberland Academy with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 54-35.

The win snapped Henderson's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-7 record. As for Pine Tree, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Henderson skirted past Pine Tree 29-26 when the teams last played back in November of 2020. The rematch might be a little tougher for Henderson since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
