It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but San Clemente ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Trabuco Hills Mustangs by a score of 9-5. With that victory, the Tritons brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Luca Cifuentes spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 23 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Havyn Nekritz was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Maddie Fernandez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

San Clemente hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive games.

San Clemente is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Trabuco Hills, they dropped their record down to 11-16 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

As of now, neither San Clemente nor the Mustangs have any future games scheduled.
