Softball Recap: North Pontotoc's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Myrtle typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday North Pontotoc proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 10-7 win over the Hawks. The victory was familiar territory for the Vikings, who have now won six games in a row.

Lacie Simmons was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Sadie Rhea was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.

North Pontotoc hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.

North Pontotoc pushed their record up to 15-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Myrtle, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-5.

Looking ahead, North Pontotoc will take on Louisville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight. Myrtle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
