Basketball Recap: Pitt County P Pacers vs. Greenville Christian Academy Knights
Pitt County P was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 54-21 loss at the hands of the Greenville Christian Academy Knights. While losing is never fun, the Pacers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 570th, while the Knights are ranked 214th).
Despite the loss, Pitt County P saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Landon Pike posted 11 points. That was a full 52.4% of Pitt County P's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Greenville Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Dove, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 17 points. Dove's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Swanner, who put up eight points and six rebounds.
Pitt County P's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Greenville Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
Pitt County P will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Trinity Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
