Basketball Recap: Montgomery Wins Going Away Against Rudder

Montgomery won against A&M Consolidated last Tuesday with 54 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Montgomery Bears strolled past the Rudder Rangers with points to spare, taking the game 54-39. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bears also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Rudder lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Diego Salazar Gold, who posted eight points. Another player making a difference was Jaquise Martin, who went 6 for 15 on his way to 14 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Montgomery is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. As for Rudder, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-10.

Montgomery will head out to face off against Lake Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Lake Creek's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches. As for Rudder, they will welcome Huntsville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rudder is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season.
